Personal Statement
Welcome to my e-Portfolio,
My name is Jordan Klavans, and I am a member of the 2017 graduating class at Penn State University. Academically, I am double majoring in political science and economics while minoring in statistics. As a student, I am the Treasurer of the Liberal Arts Undergraduate Council (LAUC) and the Membership Chair for the Liberal Arts Envoys (the student advocates for the College of the Liberal Arts). In my pursuit to develop into a professional, I have put an emphasis on communicative quality. Striving to have a career in either the government or the private sector, I understand the importance of developing both oratory and written skills. A career working for a government agency or the Fed would be ideal. I have always been fascinated in politics, economics, and the numbers which make both possible. Whether it be political polling or investment banking, I would love to have a career combining some of these interests. Over the course of my freshman year, I engaged in challenging projects spanning a variety of mediums: essays, blogs, audio, video, etc. Through these experiences, I definitely stepped out of my comfort zone. As someone who is tech-savvy but not necessarily "tech-loving", I challenged myself by learning how to blog, how to use iMovie, Garage Band, and other platforms. By adding new mediums to my repertoire, I have developed new techniques to both captivate an audience and articulate a message. In the process of preparing to become a professional, I invite you to explore my sample work and share any feedback.
